Howie Case interviews Dr. Joan Jacob Brumberg about eating disorders, such as anorexia nervosa, and the impact of the "thin ideal" on our society. "Fasting Girls: Then & Now" is the first event during Monmouth University's "Change the Conversation" week-long initiative filled with events on eating disorders and body image.
The initiative was developed by Monmouth University professor of health studies Andrea Hope, and it was coordinated with history professor Katherine Parkin.

Dr. Uslan is the first person to ever receive a doctorate degree in comic books: Doctorate of Fine Arts with a specialization in Comic Books. He was awarded this honorary degree from Monmouth University during its annual Founders' Day celebration, where he served as the keynote convocation speaker. He also recently published his memoir The Boy Who Loved Batman, which is on sale now. Dr. Uslan is a local New Jersey native and grew up in the Ocean and Wanamassa area.
